PAC release PAC8 – a cost-effective access control solution

Posted on 26-06-17

A specialist in reliable and versatile access-control solutions for over 35 years, PAC has launched the new PAC8 - a compact, feature rich single door controller managed entirely through an App with a secure Cloud based backend.

PAC8 is a highly cost-effective access control solution - not only in terms of pricing but being App-based it removes the need for a PC to control the system. The quantity of cabling that is normally required to connect the controller to the PC is also eliminated. Its easy installation is further enhanced by the size of the controller which fits into a standard electrical back box allowing it to be mounted close to the door. Despite its compact size PAC8 retains 90% of the features found in comparable PC based systems...

SeeTec announces R10 of their video management software (VMS) solutions Cayuga and SeeTec BVI

Posted on 26-06-17

VoIP-based communication has already been possible with SeeTec Cayuga using a SIP server. The release of R10 allows bi-directional audio connections directly to the camera to be accommodated too. Many IP cameras already have built-in audio functionalities such as an integrated microphone or a line output. However, SeeTec Cayuga now offers direct voice communication in both directions - without the need for additional software components.

For example, an employee in the control room can now remotely evaluate a critical situation much better, especially as they can directly communicate with a person on site. Therefore, the functionality is particularly suitable for use in combination with access control solutions, entrance doors or gates

SeeTec Cayuga R10 also offers innovations in terms of camera and hardware integration. For many manufacturers, the transfer of image streams based on H.265/HEVC is now supported. Compared to MPEG-4, this new streaming standard reduces the required bandwidth whilst keeping the same image quality by up to 50%, thus saving network resources and disk space...

Vicon release 360 degree panoramic camera

Posted on 26-06-17

Vicon Industries, designers and manufacturers of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components have introduced a new line of 6MP and 12MP panoramic cameras with fisheye lens. The camera’s extremely wide angle and highly detailed image allow it to provide coverage of an area that would typically require as many as four traditional HD security cameras, as well as eliminating blind spots. Server-side image dewarping, as well as edge-based dewarping at lower resolutions, enable the camera’s video to be displayed in a variety of formats, including panoramic and quad-view, to remove the visual “fisheye” distortion.

Featuring Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), true day/night functionality and smart IR illuminator LEDs, the cameras deliver crisp images in any lighting conditions. Indoor and outdoor models make them suitable for installation anywhere. All models have a IK10 vandal-resistance rating and the outdoor version features a weatherproof IP66 rated housing. Installation is made easy and cost-effective with PoE, eliminating the need for power cables – 12vDC is also accepted...

Redvision’s VOLANT rugged PTZ

Posted on 26-06-17

Redvision’s VOLANT has a durable die-cast aluminium body for rugged external operation. The camera is offset to allow viewing vertically downwards when mounted on a pole or column and allows highly flexible, continuous rotation in both its pan and tilt axis.

Like Redvision’s highly successful X-SERIES™ cameras, the VOLANT has a flat, optically-correct toughened glass camera window. This toughened glass protects the camera from wet conditions and provides a flat surface for a silicon wiper to remove dirt and water. Optically-correct glass means the dome has minimal distortion and the best possible low-light performance. Rated to IP68 (weatherproof) and IK10 (shock and vandal-resistance) the dome also passes IEC vibration and salt spray compliance requirements due to its aluminium body. The Infinity motors are cool running, sealed against dirt, moisture and dust ingress for minimal wear and tear...
